How this score is calculated
The tool compares one candidate CV against one job description. It does not rank candidates against each other and it does not make or recommend a hiring decision.
Essential vs desirable requirements
The job description is split into essential (non-negotiable) and desirable (preferred) requirements. Each requirement is scored from 0 to 100 for how well the CV evidences it. A missing essential requirement caps the overall match score no matter how strong the desirable coverage is, so a candidate cannot score well by over-delivering on nice-to-haves while missing a must-have.
The colours
Each requirement gets a red, amber or green marker: green at 80% and above, amber from 40% to 79%, red below 40%.
Strengths and gaps
Strengths must cite specific evidence from the CV. Every gap comes with a one-line practical fix or reframe, so the report is useful to the candidate as well as the recruiter.
Human review
The report ends with a review flag and a verdict for a human recruiter. It never recommends outright rejection without human review. A qualified person must read the full CV alongside the report before any decision is made.
Fairness
This scoring has been checked against a spread of test CVs (varied career paths, career gaps, non-graduate routes) to reduce the risk of indirectly disadvantaging candidates on grounds protected under the Equality Act 2010. This is not a guarantee of neutrality; final judgement rests with the human reviewer.
